A £2m invoice discounting facility has helped an electromechanical contract manufacturer avoid a pre-pack sale and work towards a future solvent sale. Fraud

£176,000 fraud discovered by eagle-eyed team

Our audit team has exposed fraudulent invoices worth £176,000 on a recruitment company’s £750,000 invoice finance facility. Concerned about ageing invoices from one particular debtor on the ledger, the lender instructed Hilton-Baird Audit & Survey to audit the client and get to the bottom of the delays in payment. But just one day on site allowed our Business Analyst to identify fraudulent invoicing worth £176,000 – of which £141,000 had already been funded – as well as re-ageing of debt and potential VAT fraud.

Haulage and logistics

Over £17.5m collected after high profile logistics group enters administration

Hilton-Baird Collection Services and FRP have collaboratively recovered the position of an invoice finance company after its client, an established haulage and logistics group of companies, entered administration in the aftermath of a significant cyber attack. Backed by the wealth of paperwork which had been generated and secured – which was aided by us being engaged so soon after the cyber attack and in plenty of time before the administration event – our collections team was able to recover the funder’s position within just 51 days.
